New Reads!

I have been very excited this week as my long awaited books ordered from amazon finally arrived! My job may not allow me much spare time for crafting but I can certainly get away with reading on the job (and most days do!). So, without keeping you in suspense here's what the lovely postman brought yesterday:

This book is absolutely delicious and features lots of recipes for creating crochet blocks in all shapes and sizes (some you wouldn't even have imagined) which just goes to show there's always a way of fitting a little hooky goodness into each corner of your world. The projects in this book are really easy to follow and it has lots of yummy photo's in (I wont spoil the suprise by showing them here, just in case you are going to go buy the book). Money very well spent I feel!

This book I thought would be kind of the same, jam packed with lots of funky takes on the granny square that would just make you start itching to get your hook a-hooking. Alas, this is definately NOT the case, I was highly disappointed. The funkiest project in this book has to be the shawl which you can see part of on the cover. I felt a little robbed of my hard earned pennies to say the least when this finally arrived. Not only are the projects, well, granny-ish but the choices of yarn and colour combinations are 'original' to say the least!

Needless to say I know which one my future crochet porjects will use ahem,

take care xx

not forgotten.........

Yeah, I know, once upon a time there was this blog, a little corner of my world where I could proudly show off my crafty bits 'n' bobs to like minded people and occasionally add a bit of what was happening in my life to spice things up............

Sadly, this little corner has been somewhat neglected, stowed away at the back of my mind, always the last thing on my 'to do' list but never forgotten! So, I'm here now to blow away the dust, reignite an old friendship and hopefully (if somewhat sheepishly) continue where I left off.

I'm afraid crafting has also had to take a backseat in my life at the moment too, purely because I'm finding myself bogged down with an ever increasing workload which in reality I should be grateful for, especially in these troubled times!

So, I hear you ask, what news to tell you? Nothing much, except that this week has been a hive of activity preparing for the small persons up coming 3rd birthday, 3 years all of a sudden when did that happen?! Important questions have had to be answered such as what do I get him for his birthday? Do I have time to bake him a cake? Will he even know?
A brand new fish tank, several wall:e toys (reduced price at tesco's) a bouncy castle, a buzz lightyear and we're nearly there! :)
This year the stakes have changed, this year he WANTS mummy to make him a new toy/bag/cookies and he WANTS to help! yep I'm liking this phase! I've come to terms with the fact that I need to make robots, dinosaurs etc instead of girlie things and I'm enjoying the fact that we can do more together, that crafting can become as much a part of his life as it is mine.

So, here's to crafting and to small people and to the fact that there's a little corner of my world where I can tell everyone about them both!!
